AFF Suzuki Cup 2012 Champion, Singapore

This is a long overdue post.  This  should have been posted last December 22 and before it slip off my mind, I would like to congratulate Singapore Lions for being the champions of Suzuki Cup 2012.   It just shows how close the Azkals  are to winning the AFF Suzuki Cup. Philippine Azkals defeated Lions twice in the past two international friendlies before the Suzuki Cup.  It’s  just so unfortunate that Azkals did not make it to championship.  Till next Suzuki Cup.

Another heartbreak

After Pacquiao’s loss,  now comes another heartbreak.  Azkals lost the game to Singapore in the second leg.  Singapore now advances to Final vs Thailand or Malaysia. The  dream to make another  history comes to end.  Till next Suzuki Cup   Azkals,  I’m sure you’ll play better next year.  Goodbye to Suzuki Cup  dream.  Nevertheless, the boys  played well tonight but I think they played better in the first leg. 🙁

On top of this all, I want to congratulate the Azkals for making it to the semi-finals.  The game was really physical.  Some Azkals sustained some injuries during the game. 🙁    I hope I could post more of what I really watched in the game but I  leave it to football analysts and other  sportscasters for their comments and game analysis.  My heart  cried so hard when I saw Phil Younghusband and Dennis Cagara badly hurt.   Now it’s time to go home and rest and prepare for the next game,   probably Challenge Cup?

Azkals advances to Suzuki Cup semi-finals

Just a short update. I did not get the chance to watch the game last Saturday  between Azkals and Myanmar.  I was  out  for a weekend trip and there’s no TV  or Wifi at the resort.  I watched the replay last Sunday night via ESPN where it was played  three times that day.   Phil Younghusband scored a goal few minutes at the start of second half  while Angel Guirado sealed  the score to  2 – 0  just a minute  before the referee blew the final whistle.

The next game will be on Saturday, December 8,  8pm,   for the first leg of  the semi-finals  of Suzuki Cup where Azkals will meet Singapore at  Rizal Memorial Stadium,  live via AKTV.   I just  checked the ticketworld website and tickets are now on a Limited Status,  meaning, tickets are almost sold out.  So get your ticket now or  you’ll miss the game live.     Second leg  to be held on December 12 at Jalan Basar Stadium.

Philippine Azkals vs Vietnam, 1 – 0

Once again, Cheiffy Caligdong scored another heroic goal. It’s a  win for the Azkals!  Chieffy  scored a goal on the 85th minute!

Fulltime Score:   Vietnam  0 – 1 Philippines!

Congratulations Azkals! Now looking forward to the next game on Friday,  November 30,  9:15pm, Philippines vs Myanmar (ESPN)

Azkals vs Lions before Suzuki Cup 2012

The game at Cebu City Sports Complex where Azkals met the Singapore Lions last November 15 was the last friendly match before Suzuki Cup but it was a  great game like a big fight.  Football fans almost filled the sports complex and that signals how  far football has gone in the country.  The friendly match  was held at Cebu and the fans were amazed  with  how the Azkals defend themselves against the Lion.  I  was actually in my friend’s house for a birthday party but I made my way to watch the game too.  I requested to switch the channel  where the play was telecast  without  considering  everybody   in the house  watching soap opera.  I am a soap opera addict too, but given an option, I’ll choose football without any doubt.  Now  I  am a football fanatic.  Singapore did not get the chance to score,  and ended 1- 0 in favor of Azkals.  Marvin Angeles scored on the 54th minute.

Azkals vs Thailand War Elephants

Another game in the opening of Suzuki cup last Saturday, November 24,  was  Azkals vs  Thailand War Elephants.  I was torn  between the three shows,  Kapuso  Mo, Jessica Soho,   Carmina – Zoren Wedding and Azkals vs Thailand War Elephant game.  I chose the latter  while everybody else was watching  The Wedding Carmina – Zoren.   I was upset how the game turned out  in many aspects.  Huh!  It was a physical game.  Phil Younghusband suffered a  cut on his  left eyebrow.    Coach Weiss was sent to stands when he was caught  throwing a ball to a Thai  player.  He said that  it  was  unintentional and  what he just  meant to do was roll the ball.   The game ended  with a score of   2 – 1 in favor of  Thailand.  I hope for a better and fair  fight tomorrow where Azkals will meet Vietnam.

Do or Die game will happen tomorrow
